Professors

For prospective students, I highly recomend the Effective Learning 115 course. It is a great introduction into study skill, time management, note taking and more. Just bear in mind that being a community college there will be alot of student straight out of high school that don't take their education seriously and can tend to be a distraction.

Alumni

I hit a brick wall with this College and almost moved out of the State to find better options for a nursing program. The community (mostly fellow medical staff) views this college as unorganized and unprofessional. How they decide who they let into their nursing program seems more personal bias than academic achievement. One A&P teacher in particular like to make degrading statements to students who didn't do well on her exams. If you have other options don't bother with this college, you aren't missing out....

Campus and vibes

Do your homework and always let your teacher's know ahead of time if you are not able to make it to class. If you have a child and want to be home with your child talk to your counselor and they will let them know that you would like to look into online classes. They are always happy to help!

Current Student

If you decide to attend Lane Community, be aware that the enrollment is at its highest ever. The parking is more crowded than usual, but these are small problems. One area that can be obnoxious is in building 1. You have to take a number to get any assistance, and many of the people who could be working an information window are not. It is sometimes hard to get help unless you are there really early.

my suggestion to everyone starting at lcc is to utilize all the resources made available to you. we have bus passes paid for in our fees, a helpful financial aid dept., counseling dept. that can help you plan out your time at lane, access to an on campus health clinic also paid for in our fees, as well as free legal aid and many more services.

Get your applications in as soon as possible. Attend any of the campus events you can to learn more about the programs they offer and how to get ahead.

Alumni

The classes are small and most of the teaching staff is helpful. In this regard, the school is excellent. However, the Financial Aid department is often rude, as are most of the members of Student Services. Queue times are long, which likely contribute to the shortness of the employees. However, given how much tuition has gone up in the last few years, a short-staffed, rude staff is largely inexcusable.

Cost and value

Current Student

Getting scholarships and loans for Lane Community College has been the easiest thing I have ever done. They make it easy by having an office just for getting money to pay for school!

Current Student

The tuition is tiny. Each class is less than 100$ on average, and some are only slightly higher. Also, I was able to get a fair amount of financial aid without having a high GPA and lots of extracurricular activities. I am going to be able to do one term of college for less than 2,000 dollars.

Current Student

Like most community colleges, LCC is a great value for the price, at an average of right around $1300 per term, including books it feels like a great value. This price covers 4 classes.
